You may wonder why would we name a hotel in East Pelion after a tropical bird. Many years ago, when the founder of this hotel, Christos Gagakis, traveled the world as a captain, he met Nikos Kavvadias, a famous Greek poet, who was also a seaman.

When in 1980 he built this hotel in Chorefto, he decided to name it after Kavvadias’ first collection of poems, titled “Marabou”, to pay a last tribute to this Greek poet and friend.

In this day, Marabou Hotel is run by our family. Our goal is to provide our visitors with unique value-for-money services in a welcoming environment, to facilitate all their needs in order to explore the hidden treasures of East Pelion, and make them feel at home.
