One of the 24 villages of Pelion, is built on a long hill, 45 klm away from Volos, at an altitude of 350 meters. In this forested village on the northeastern side of the mountain of Centaurs, nature and tradition come together. Makriraxi constitutes a unique destination for vacations throughout the year because of its unique geographical location. It is only 20 klm away from the ski centre Agriolefkes and 3 klm far from the beaches of Agioi Saranta and Horefto. In case you visit Makriraxi, mind to take a walk in the square of the village, wander around the village, see the church of St. John Prodromos, the chapels of St. Constantine and Helen, of Agioi Anargiroi and of Profitis Ilias. In this village you will find a big diversity of flowers as gardenias, camelias and hydrangeas. The villagers are engaged in flowers cultivation. Don’t forget to taste the bread, which is backed in the traditional bakery in the centre of the village.
